What online physiotherapy from India means for Canadians

Online physiotherapy (tele-rehab) is a live video consultation in which a physiotherapist assesses your movement, prescribes a progressive exercise programme, and corrects your technique in real time — the exercise-based core of rehabilitation, delivered over a video call instead of a clinic table. Realign Rehab Clinic provides these sessions from Faridabad, India, led by Dr. Vaishali Suri (BPT, MIAP), for patients in Canadawho can't get timely or affordable physiotherapy locally.

Private physiotherapy in Toronto or Vancouver typically costs CA$90–150 per session, and publicly funded physiotherapy — where it exists at all — comes with waitlists measured in weeks or months. OHIP delisted routine outpatient physio for most working-age adults years ago. Extended health benefits cap out quickly: a typical $500 annual allowance disappears in four or five visits.

Why patients in Canada book video rehab with us

The Canadian pattern we see most: an injury in November, a referral, a January assessment, benefits exhausted by February, and then — nothing. The middle of rehab is where people get abandoned, and the middle of rehab is mostly progressive exercise, monitoring and adjustment. That part doesn't need you to drive through snow to a clinic. It needs a physiotherapist who watches you move on camera and tells you what to change.

Canada has one of the largest Indian diasporas anywhere — around 1.8 million people, from Brampton to Surrey. A lot of our Canadian patients are managing their parents' rehab across two continents: mum in Faridabad seeing us in person, and the son in Mississauga joining the video review. We can be the one physio both generations talk to.

Session times that work from Canada

India is 9.5–10.5 hours ahead of Eastern Time. That sounds awkward until you look at it properly: our 8 AM–8 PM IST clinic day covers 9:30 PM–9:30 AM ET — meaning early Canadian mornings (7–9 AM ET, before work) and late evenings line up with our staffed hours. Weekend mornings in Canada are especially easy to book.

What works over video — and what doesn't

We'd rather lose a booking than pretend everything translates to a screen. Video sessions are excellent for movement assessment, progressive exercise rehab, posture retraining, load management and pain education. They cannot deliver manual therapy, dry needling, cupping or electrotherapy — if your assessment shows you need hands-on care, we say so in the first session and help you find it locally. Online physiotherapy from Canada — common questions

Does OHIP or my extended health plan cover online physiotherapy from India?

No. Provincial plans and Canadian extended-health benefits (Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life) cover registered Canadian physiotherapists only. Our service is private-pay — priced so that a full month of weekly video sessions typically costs less than one or two Canadian clinic visits. Many patients use us precisely because their benefits ran out mid-rehab.

I've been on a physio waitlist for six weeks. Can you start sooner?

Usually within 2–3 days. WhatsApp +91 9818185589 with a short description of your problem, and we'll schedule an initial video assessment at a Canadian-friendly hour. If your presentation needs hands-on or in-person care, we'll tell you that in the first session rather than string you along.

What can a video physiotherapy session actually do for me?

Assessment of movement patterns, posture and strength on camera; a progressive home exercise programme; weekly technique correction while you perform the exercises live; load and pain-flare management; and a written plan you can share with any local provider. What it can't do: manual therapy, dry needling, or anything requiring hands on you — we're honest about which category your problem falls into.

What times work for sessions from Canada?

Early mornings (7–9 AM ET) and late evenings (from 9:30 PM ET) on weekdays, and generous weekend morning availability. Western Canada: your 6–8 AM PT slots land in our staffed evening hours too.
